Introduction
The Third JEEM Conference in Environmental and Resource Economics is co-organized by Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and the School of Ecology & Environment at Renmin University of China (RUC). The conference will be held from May 11 to May 13, 2025, with a hybrid model of both in-person and online participation.
This conference features keynote speeches from Professor Junjie WU (NC State University) and Professor Erica MYERS (University of Calgary). It also includes presentations and discussions on cutting-edge research topics in environmental and resource economics, including climate policy, energy transition, sustainable development, and ecological governance. This event aims to foster global academic collaboration and address critical challenges in environmental and resource economics.

Keynote Speakers
Professor JunJie Wu currently serves as Professor and Department Chair of the Agricultural and Resource Economics Department (since September 2021). Previously, he held the position of Emery N. Castle Professor of Resource and Rural Economics at Oregon State University, where he also directed the Center for Agricultural and Environmental Policy. Concurrently, he serves as Senior Fellow at Resources for the Future (RFF) in Washington, D.C.
Professor Wu has served as Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and Associate Editor of the Journal of Regional Science. In 2016, he was elected Fellow of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) and has been a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Science Advisory Board.
His research bridges agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics, and regional economics, with a focus on the economic drivers of land-use change and their environmental impacts. He has pioneered the integration of biophysical models with spatial economic analysis methods, advancing research in agricultural environmental policy design and ecosystem services valuation. His work has been recognized with the AAEA's Quality of Research Discovery Award, and he has led multiple interdisciplinary projects funded by the USDA and National Science Foundation. His scholarly publications appear in leading journals including Journal of Public Economics、Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists、Journal of Environmental Economics and Management、American Journal of Agricultural Economics。
Professor Erica Myers currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Calgary, Canada, where she holds the Canada Research Chair in Environmental, Energy, and Resource Economics. She is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and an Affiliated Researcher at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), as well as a faculty member of the E2e Initiative.
She also serves as a Co-Editor at the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and on the editorial council at Land Economics, Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, and Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy.
Professor Erica Myers’ research focuses on energy and environmental economics, with a strong emphasis on integrating theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis. Her work has been published in leading international journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and Environmental and Resource Economics.

About the Local Organizer
The School of Ecology and Environment at Renmin University of China was established in 2024, evolving from the School of Environment and Natural Resources founded in 2001. The School is a comprehensive institution integrating Resource and Environmental Economics, Sustainable Development Management, and Ecology. Leveraging Renmin University's strengths in social sciences, the School is dedicated to interdisciplinary education and research.
As a leading center for environmental economics education in China, the School is home to the country’s earliest and largest academic program in population, resource, and environmental economics.
